Everyone Has Natural Gifts

Something happened in my forties.

I settled into my bones.

I stopped trying to be someone else.

I started to lay a hold of who I was meant to be.

I released shame, regret, fear and apathy.

Be Yourself

.
It seems to me that finding and accepting your gifts is a spiritual thing.  Some of us might feel like we have different gifts at different times of your lives.  Some of us might only have one thing we are really "gifted" with.  I don't think it matters.

The value isn't in what your gifts are or when you realize it.  It is in what you do with it.

I'm good at a few things.
I'm okay at a few more things..
And I am not really good at even more things.

If I spend my time worrying and focusing on those last two things, what will I accomplish?  If I spend time comparing myself with others, envying their success what will I accomplish? If I constantly second guess?  If I toss things out unfinished because they are imperfect?  If I give up before I start a task because of fear of judgement- what do I have in the end?

I have nothing.

Just nothing.

There are five basic questions that lead me to some life changing answers.

1. What do you love?

What are you passionate about? Make sure that the thing you love is not the thing you love about someone else. This is your particular "love," and it is probably a part of you already.

2. What do you hate?

What makes you frustrated or angry?  Hate being the opposite of love can reveal something you feel passionate about. Example: Think small. Think in a daily view, not a world view, because most of us hate injustice, cruelty, etc. One thing I hate, that really gets my goat, is really bad writing and stumpy underwritten children's books that get published and become a whole franchise. Or just get published in the first place.  Now I can excuse this opinion as something presumptuous and judgmental or I can recognize it for what it means - I'm passionate about books and the whole publishing industry.

3.What was your favorite pastime as a child?

Active or passive activity?  Alone or in a group? Think of that first awkward year of Junior High, that activity you still loved before you entered the halls of peer pressure and painful self awareness. What is that activity that you loved to do before someone told you that you were doing it wrong and would never be good enough?

4. What are you good at?

Or what were you good at but you haven't done it in a long time? Cooking, building things, physical activity, giving advice, encouragement, writing, drawing, entertaining, helping others who need help, fixing things, organizing, sharing, giving, teaching, training, making things, listening, business ideas, self-starting, planning,  music, dance, gardening, math,  - there are so many different kinds of things you can be good at!

5. What can you teach?

What do you enjoy sharing/teaching others or your children? What life lessons or life skills are the most important to you?

These are the questions the Holy Spirit waked me through.  Does that sound weird?  Again, if you are not acquainted with Him it might sound odd, but I'm pointing to Him as my guide because I've never read a book, article or attended a seminar on how to find my life's gifts.
In my twenties I was just living.  Looking to fill up an empty place inside of me with love and affirmation.  Looking in all the wrong places, I might add.
In my thirties I was just getting through each day, making sure my kids made it to bed alive, devoted to them so much that I actively sought to silence dreams, goals and the voice of the Holy Spirit because I thought I had neither had time nor energy to do more than take care of my kids.
In my forties I started to listen.

Often we put our talents, dreams and gifting through a profit strainer. That one that says if we pour into something, cash must come out the other side. And while I don't recommend running away from responsibilities to chase after a dream, I do recommend giving up things like television, media and time eaters to chase after a dream.

Sometimes Christians put all their talents, dreams and giftings through this twin filter of church and Bible.  If it doesn't serve God now, in an obvious manner, than it must not have value. There is no truth in that idea.  One of the most important ways to serve God is loving Him with your true self.

I believe in the Creator of the Universe.  He made platypuses people.  He made mosquitoes.  He made the giraffe and the cockroach.  He made them because it pleased Him to do so.  If He makes a platypus, which ninety nine percent of the worlds population will never see in the flesh, because it pleased Him, and then He can and does give beautiful, precious, important gifts to people that may never seemingly serve the church in any obvious way.

Even if you are not a Christian Believer, you must know that you are more than the hunt for food, shelter, and a mate. You are a unique, creative, being with endless potential stored in your genetic make-up.

All Christians have the same mandate: Love God/Love Others. For some that is their Life Calling.  But for others, many many others, it is the mandate of our lives, but not our Calling.  Love God/Love Others is how we do the job, not the job we do.

Does that make sense?  For the Pastor, his job is Love God/Love Others.  He literally gets paid to do that job.

For me, my job is with children, with elderly people.  I get paid to do that and I do it with the character of  Love God/Love Others.  My calling, the thing I'm good at is to express and share my creativity with whoever cares to look at it-  It's what I love, what I am good at, and what I can teach. The creativity part of my calling has been there since childhood.  Whether I will ever earn money at it is still in question, but that I was called to do it is not.  I can undervalue it.  I can ignore it, but I can not escape it because it spills out everywhere.  It is how I am made.

We can spend half a lifetime stifling how we are made.

Or we can embrace it and see where it leads.

That's what I am doing.

An Idea

When you were small did you feel out of place or different?  I have this idea that has been formulating since my late thirties (I'm gettin into my fabulous fifties now,) I have this idea that every person on the planet has at one point felt out of place and different.

In any group of people, when I am feeling awkward, someone else in the group is feeling the same way. Maybe everyone in the whole group is feeling that way, at the same time. I think this happens in every gathering of people, at every every age, in every setting.

I think everyone feels like they are on the outside looking in.

When does it happen that we start thinking certain people never feel insecure, inadequate or imperfect? Famous people sometimes look like they have it all going for them.  We see them on t.v, watch their stories unfold, but even reality t.v. makes it look so much more perfect and comfortable compared to our own lives. I wonder if Kim Kardashian ever feels ugly or stupid. I wonder if  (insert famous actress of your choice here) ever felt like she wasn't worthy, wasn't good enough and didn't fit in.

Closer to reality there is probably at least one person at your workplace who looks like they have it all together.  Or think of church, sometimes there are entire families who seem to be living the dream of the perfect life.  Think back during the school years, college, high-school and jr. high and the first time you really became aware of social differences.

My theory is that every human being no matter how wealthy, beautiful or gifted she is, has felt different and inadequate many times during their lives.

Take a introspection moment here.  Look back at all those times where you were so uncomfortable with yourself and the situation that you wanted to peel off your skin, that you wanted to hide under a rock, that you felt  not good enough...

Add a few people who always look like they have everything together and they always know what they are doing...

Draw a mental picture for yourself.

Now see them with the same pain you felt. See that what is really happening underneath.

What Happened With Me

I remember feeling like an outsider the first time I stepped on school property.  I'd had a small social circle before Kindergarten which consisted of my older brother and some cousins.  A pattern of me feeling different within my own family had already been established and school did nothing but reinforce it from Day One.

After some really pain filled, emotional years as a child I became a Christian at sixteen.  Jesus revealed His love to me and brought me out of a very dark place.  I was filled with despair and hate. I had a hair trigger temper that was capable of very destructive rages.  I loathed everything about myself.  Stupid, fat, ugly, awkward, lost, different, not enough, not good enough.  And I hated everyone else.

And then I met Jesus, Son of God, God in the Flesh, He showed me a love so profound it literally changed my personality.  First He loved me as I was, stupid, fat, ugly, ect.  Then He showed me who I was:  Loved, Wanted, Good Enough to Suffer and Die For.  And then He showed me how He saw everyone else.

How I Became Confident

I think understanding these three things is the key to being the best, most confident person you can be.

Understand who you are
Understand Who loves you.
Understand who everyone else is.

And once you have these three revelations, being the best, most confident You is so much easier.

When I share my art, it's not because I think it is perfect, professional or worth the big bucks.  It isn't perfect.  But very few artists are ever fully satisfied with their work plus we all stated at the same place and we are all on equal playing ground.

I share it because I want you to not be afraid to share yours.  I share it because it is a part of my story.  I share my story because it might make you feel like you are not alone, different, and out of place. I create fearlessly because it is so much fun, I am all most certain everyone on the planet should be doing it too.

Silly Glasses postcard - but it was too fat to send so it went in anenvelope!

Okay.  Maybe not.  But if you want to make stuff---fearing what other people think about it should not be a reason for holding back.  They feel the same fear you feel and they do it anyway.  Some of them even create fearlessly and teach classes!

Art cards from the index card a day challenge at DaisyYello.com#ICAD2016
Confidence may not happen for you like it did for me.  And sometimes it is a process.  (Almost fifty, did I say?  I am still learning stuff.  Which is actually kind of wonderful when I think about it.)  But if you haven't started the process what are you waiting for?

Did you make any New Year's resolutions to be more confident?  Did you make any decision to become a better You?  Did you Pick a One Word this year that has been guiding you on a pathway to more positive wonderfulness in your life?

If you did , Yourdori.com & The Gratitude Girls Cheer League is hosting a Heart Check event on facebook. You are invited.  There are five daily prompts for comments and photo sharing.  (feel free to go back and do the previous prompts!)  Comments will get you entered to win a coffee gift card and a "flip book" made by me.

If we are to teach are children to be confident, we must learn the path for ourselves too.  Do you think my theory is correct?  How are you learning to be a more confident person?

This month my goal has been to settle on my One Word, that one little word that I am going to focus on for the rest of the year.

I'm getting close.  Narrowing it down.  My bestie Nancy has picked out three words, and they are pretty awesome, but still I kinda feel like I need to focus on just one, maybe.

I love hearing about your words and your goals too.  We've been sharing them back and forth  in the face book group Gratitude Girls Cheer League please click the link to join us, we'd love to have you.

Hand in hand with finding my word and setting my goals are my Power Buttons.

What is a Power Button?

It's that switch that gets me out of bed, gets me going when I don't have to be at the beck and call of anyone else, motivates me forward, out of the house, and into the world.  It a passion that energizes me.  An idea think about all the time. It's a dream I want to make real and a hope that won't die. Its that thing I really want to finish, just to say I did it.  It's the coffee for my soul.

Yes.  Even my soul drinks coffee.

(that only sounds really odd if you don't drink a pot of coffee a day and love it so much you actually smell it in your dreams)

In the world of business they call it your Why.

Why are you doing this?

But, unlike only wanting one word, I have a several Power Buttons.

I don't do things for just one reason. a Power Button may be something that is always there on the switchboard, just waiting for the moment of activation.  It may be a bright green light that always shines behind every action. Or it is my task driven motivator, that once accomplished, leads me to a new task and a new button.

A little doodle from my art journal.

As a woman, I have lived through a few different seasons.  Moments when my why was all about the children or work, or just making it through the day.  Things happen that alter what I can do and which power buttons can be turned on.  I figured this out when my kids were young - a baby, two toddlers, and a preschooler, that while some women (mostly on television) could seemingly do and be everything, I could only have a few things activated at a time.

I was not doing creative things.
I was not holding down a forty hour a week position.
I was not even taking a shower everyday.

But now that season is over and while my kidlets motivate me toward lots of things, that power button is no longer dominating everything.

Some of my power buttons are found by answering the questions:

I've always wanted to....
I really need to..
When people look at me I want them to see...
I want  my story to be about....

This all sounds a little self involved, like I'm standing in-front of a mirror pondering questions about me and throwing in a few daily affirmations while I'm at it.   I want to know my power buttons so that I don't set my sights on goals that are so totally self serving, so that I don't loose moments of real importance along the journey.

Because there are negative power buttons too.  Motivators that serve nothing and can possibly hurt someone, cause pain, or get in the way of living the kind of life I've already chosen to live.

So...This month, along with making lists, and lists of lists so that I can break my BIG GOALS  into doable goals,

I am finding my Power Buttons

And settling on my One Word...

How about you?  What motivates you?  What are your Power Buttons?

2011-2012: All
2013: Go
2014: Focus
2015: Fearless
2016:?

What is one little word? What is one word for the year?

It's a word that I can explore.  One who's definition I seek to understand, live by, and influence my day, week, month and year.  It's the focus of my journaling (although I haven't been a daily journaler) and creative thought life.

It took me most of 2014 to really understand what FOCUS meant for me.  I struggled finding that word, wrestled with what it could mean and how to apply it - until at the end of November I finally understood.  I don't feel like I really lived it out at all.  Maybe I will need a do-over.

2015 was a  year of going forward, I had no trouble choosing my new word.  It hovered over me and settled into me at the end of December even as I felt overwhelmed with challenges.  Since finding my O.L.W. is apart of my spiritual journey, I prayed about it - or tried to pray, but the certainty of this word being right for this season was just too big.  I didn't need to pray about it because I knew.

Less doubt - more confidence.  Moving forward, not living in the past. Taking risks.  Trusting.  More Faith.  No excuses.

I lived it out the best I could.  Spoke up.  Felt foolish for speaking up.  Made mistakes.  Picked myself up and kept going.  Made new friends.  Met new people.  Shared my creativity.  Tested my limits. Tried new things.  Challenged others to try new things.

It was a great year.  Not perfect, but it shaped me.

I'm still working on my word for 2016.

What's your One Little Word?

To change the attitude, a person needs to write it, speak it and act on it.  Everyone learns differently, of course, but without action, gratitude is just one of those things that means very little.

Gratitude is not one of those things you keep to yourself.  You have to spread it around so that it gets everywhere.  (hey, Kinda like a Glitter Bomb!)

This isn't a glitter bomb, of course.  This is a photo of a glitter craft I did with a 4 year old and an almost 2 year old yesterday.  So- kinda a glitter bomb.  And pretty.

Gratitude and Generosity go hand in hand, because gratitude is more than just an act of thankfulness.  Gratitude is an acknowledgement of what you have.  Giving is the action of that acknowledgement - the action response to understanding that YOU have something of value to give.

Being a craft lover hoarder ( I need a support group)  there are times when all I am aware of are the things I don't have (a full set of Caran D'ache Neocolor ii's) and forget the things I do have (a lovely set of 80 Intense blocks.) I focus way to much on the fact that it is really expensive to take the family out to dinner, and I forget that we always have food to eat.  I forget that I am taken care of, provided for, and have all the ingredients for basic comfort. I forget that I have enough that I can even share.

Sharing does not come naturally.  Actually with children, sharing is a skill that comes with brain development...but if you miss that window to teach the skill or something impacts that crucial development, that child will spend the rest of her life struggling to learn that skill.

Sharing and giving are things that must be practiced with action, which brings me back to Gratitude and Generosity.

Which is why, one of the important parts of this Heart Of Gratitude Journey is giving stuff away.

Only - I've been working so much (I am so grateful for work!) that I don't have pictures of my Giveaway.

I do have pretty pictures of glittered acorns.

Today in the Gratitude Girls Cheer League, we are going to practice Giving Stuff away. All DAY LONG.   We have several special guest giveaways that I am so excited to be sharing with you.  We hope you join-in, enter all the giveaways, share your stories, and be blessed by the day.

I pray this weekend helps heal your heart and lets you know you are special and you are loved.

Be Blessed!

Gratitude: The key to happiness

Gratitude is more than just this thing families do once a year around a feast, it is an attitude change that can actually make a person happier and healthier.  Different religions, scientists,  and doctors agree that living a grateful life is the key to a life of happiness.

Around this time of year I see daily facebook posts stating what people are grateful for - counting their blessings.  Sometimes friends comment, sometimes they don't but it seems a solitary sort of way to express feelings.

Nancy of Domesticraft and I put together the Heart of Gratitude Journey so that we could share our thankfulness with others, get to know new friends from new new places and so that we could encourage each other toward positive heart change.  This journey is about building connections. As we share, we will get to know each other, and maybe the world will be a smaller place.

Gratitude: Looking At Life From A Positive Angle

I don't want to sound all pithy, but Gratitude is the act of turning that frown upside down.  That's a line from a movie somewhere or something.  But it's true.  Gratitude is looking at what you do have instead of what you don't have. When you consciously spend time being grateful, focusing on the good things in life and looking at situations with an honest perspective, it actives a positive mindset and just to be real with you here, it makes you a better person too!

For the last seven years my family has struggled to find secure financial footing.  I could focus on this, complain about this, and waste time assigning blame for this situation.  Or I can make a conscious decision to count the blessings given to us and savor the things we have learned. We have learned A LOT.  And we have been BLESSED in incredible ways.  If I was complaining all the time, I would miss out on all those good moments in the journey.

The Heart of Gratitude Journey is 14 Days of sharing our journey together.  You can respond to our daily prompts posted on Instagram at @Domesticraft and @Dapoppins as well as in our private facebook group:  The Gratitude Girls Cheer League.

  • You can:  Take photos and post to Instagram with the hashtag #heartofgratitude  And share photos in the facebook group
  • You can:  Keep a written journal and go along with challenges
  • You can:  Share your blog/website posts related to Gratitude on the facebook group (don't forget to put the hashtag #heartofgratitude somewhere so that we can find you in google search.
  • You can: Make a Gratitude Craft, art journal page, whatever touches your creative heart and share it.
  • You can: COMMENT and JOIN in the Discussion

Commenting and interacting is good because it builds the toward the habit of Gratitude.  Once you say       (or type or photograph or draw) something, bring it out into the open, the lesson gets into your ears, in your head and in your heart.  It's learning by doing.

Commenting and interacting is also good because it ENTERS YOU INTO THE GIVEAWAYS.

(More about Giveaways coming, we have to get all the
goodies together! hee-hee  HINT it will be something
where you can be creative with your gratitude)

At least one on each of our blogs for two US winners and a 3rd giveaway for international peeps only.  PLUS - we are planning a couple of little surprises in the Facebook group!

Giving stuff away is good practice for Gratitude and it's just good fun.

How do you enter the giveaways?  You comment.

Where and how often can you comment?  The more you comment on the blogs, on facebook and on instagram- the more you enter the giveaways.

{The winners will be chosen on the last day of the giveaway.}

And there it is.  It's that easy and it is going to be super, duper fun.

Thank you for joining in on the journey!

Last Spring a few ladies went on a 21 Day journey.

We decided to confront our negative thoughts and change them to grateful thoughts.  We decided to be authentic.  We stepped over our differences and connected with each other through the things we share in common.

Creating Fearlessly

Letting Go Of Comparisons

I'm sure you have heard that beauty is in the eye of the beholder - and sometimes we ladies behold ourselves and the stuff we do AND all we can do is self criticize.

We do it so much and so well there are ad-companies who sell products based on on letting go of that inner critic and accepting who we are.

I actually congratulate myself  when I  find the flaws.  Give me a gold star, because, look, I'm honest about my shortcomings.  If you're not sure what they are, I will voluntarily provide you with a complete list! Just ask.  Or don't ask.  I am likely to hand you the list anyway.

It's not just that I don't like what I see, what I am, or the stuff I create, it's that I am comparing it to some other ideal. Even if I never saw a commercial, never saw how big the Smith's house was, never experienced someone else's art - gee what would I be judging myself against?

If there is no yard stick - how can I measure?

It's not just that I have trouble looking in the mirror and not comparing myself to other women.  I mean, come on!  Julianna Margulies and I are about the same age.  Shouldn't I look like her? Shouldn't all middle aged women get to wake up in the morning and look like her?  That smooth dark hair.  That flawless skin and bright smile.

My hair is dark.  Hey, we practically look like sisters.  If she had a shorter, triangle shaped sister with frizzy hair and a smile badly in need of a Cadillac dental plan....It's not just this famous woman (who has a team of people to make her look beautiful and whose job requires being well put together) I have this horrible tendency to compare myself to the women all around me, it's like a filter I wear over my brain!  Look at me I am wearing a giant coffee filter on my head!   I have to consciously take that thing off to even see a little bit clearly.

Creating Fearlessly

To create fearlessly, to explore crafts, art and even scrapbooking, I have to make myself stop comparing and just Do.  I have to quiet my inner editor, just move forward, letting every project become a learning experience.  I write a story, bake a cake, and or even invite people over into my home, I have to take off that ugly filter and just rest in who I am.

For me, it's a Faith thing.  I have help removing that filter, and I have help resting - sometimes I can't do it on my own. Okay, Usually I can't do it on my own.

In the last year I have been very aware of this critical side of me.  Not just because I wear my own ridiculous, useless filter, but  because I see other's through it. And I don't want to do that.  I don't want to be a critical-comparing person.  I really don't.  In 2015 I've worked harder on being more encouraging and empowering to everyone. I choose to encourage my husband, my children, my friends.  Even myself.

I honestly believe, the only way I am going to be able to continue to create anything fearlessly in 2015 is by Letting Go of Comparisons, and just accepting that - This is Me.  I was created to be Me, not Julianna Margulies, not anyone else.  And me is not only okay, Me is uniquely gifted, specially different, and wonderfully made.

My word for 2015 is fearless.

I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists & paints to for the colors on this large tag. On the girl I used High Impact Paints and did a tiny bit of detailing with metallic Pitt pens. I used a little bit of glitter glue, but didn't like it and scrapped most of it off.  The flowers all started out white, as did those little strands of burlap.  The little frame is an old K & Company epoxy and metal frame I have had for ages and ages.  I painted it with gesso and  used a Tattered Angels Naturally Aged Paint System to change it completely.  I love how it turned out.  The little metal findings are from 7 Gypsies.  The background papers are from the 7 Gypsies, Gypsy Moments line.  The tissue paper is French Scrip from Canvas Corp brands that I painted with Tattered Angels Paints.

We all have those days.  Those days where self doubt strikes up the orchestra in your brain and starts that same old song you have been hearing since you were in jr. high (- maybe even before that.)

I'm not good enough.
I can't do anything right.
No one will ever see me.
Why am I wasting my time on this?
Why do I even bother?

For me, these days come after a high - after something really good happens.  Sometimes it happens as soon as an hour after I get good news.

Or these days come with the hormone surges and lapses of being female.  I'm still young enough to get those days - err, weeks.

I don't like that voice that tells me "I'm not good enough."  I know you have heard it too.  For some people, no matter how perfect they are, they still hear it.  In fact, I bet the more perfect you are, the more you hear it.

We can't all have the confidence of Donald Trump.

You have to give that man credit where credit is due.  He has lived all those inspiring quotes about overcoming adversity, failing and not giving up, taking risks, and hard work bringing big things to pass.  His arrogance, no matter how overpowering, is earned from his experiences.  This is what happens when you loose everything and get it back, it's what happens when risks pay off.

How I Overcome Self Doubt

Recognize The Lies.
That voice that says “You are not good enough.”  is lying to you.  If you listen to the lie, you will never be more than “not good enough.”

Keep Trying Until You Do It Right.

It is better to try and fail than not try at all.  So keep trying, keep learning, keep doing until get to where you want to go.

Seek A Comforter

There is no need to go this alone.  Since I am a Christian believer, I am never alone, and I always have Someone who looks at me and says.  “You are not perfect, I still love you.  You are good enough for Me to die for.  I accept you.  Keep moving forward.  I am with you.”

Not a Believer?

Then find your friend, your parent, the love of your life, to speak truth to you.

Get Some Space.

It’s okay to withdraw, reboot, and take some time to evaluate.  Have some coffee.  Eat some chocolate.  Take a nap.

Focus on the Good.

Instead of being overpowered by all the things going wrong, count your blessings. Find the things that are going right and be grateful for them.

Count Your Victories

Remember Donald Trump?  He’s not looking at his failures.  He’s looking at his victories.  He’s letting them power him forward.  What are the victories in your life?  Where can you give yourself an A+ grade?  Where were your prayers answered?

Speak Positive Things Out Loud
Drown out the ugly lies by speaking “I CAN.”  over them.  I use Biblical Scripture for this and read through who God says I am.

Go Love On Someone

Just do this.  You will feel better.

Fix What You Can, Walk Away From What You Can Not Fix

We can only control ourselves.  Therefore, we can only fix ourselves.  If I need a conversation with someone to erase my self doubt, to deal with perceived wrong-doing on my part, to better understand a situation, than I try to have that conversation.  But my response to any and every situation is one I own.  I control myself.  So I fix what I can in myself.  If it’s not in me, I can’t fix it.  So it’s best to walk away.

I hope you are encouraged by this post. I started out feeling very discouraged, now that I've gone through the list, I am feeling ever so much better. What do you do to Overcome Self Doubt? Do you have a cheerleader in your life to speak truth to you?

My Grandmother Dee was that person for me. When she died at age 86 a few years ago, I keenly felt the loss. But God knows what we need. Amazingly, last summer I met a fellow crafty person in the form of +Nancy Gaines. She is an encourager by nature even though she comes with the cutest pair of red glasses and no pom-pom's. She is launching her own really cool business this week. You really should pop over to her website Domesticraft.com and check her out.

{Update}

This month has been remarkable in so many ways.  Mostly, because of you.

I laughed a lot.  I teared up more than once.

Today, (finally)  I put together a little kit to put in the Gratitude box.

This month has been so amazing.  I don't even know where to go with this - I mean I'm not sure there is anything else I need to say.  Have you been over to visit Nancy yet?  You gotta read the post she put up late last night.  It's goooood.

Go here!

I hope you will forgive my tardiness - I worked a full week and ran out of steam in the evenings, snuggling down into bed around nine (which is so unusual for me!) It was one of those weeks where I had stuff every day and none of it was THIS blogging stuff!  Or {GASP} my crafting stuff!

There was very little time to work on this...see that little trim I added?

And- I've been so busy - it's still not finished!

I was hoping, thinking, that this could be a box filled with Gratitude notes, or a little book with quotes, or daily reminders, or even notes from people who visit, something like a guest book only filled with Gratitude!

I was thinking, perhaps, of filling up the box with the papers to make pretty notes or a journal. And I might wish to add a $10 gift card to Joann's that someone special could use toward the purchase of something crafty (don't forget to combine it with a 40% off coupon! )

BUT If someone (or lots of someone's) commented - here and on Facebook and Instagram- If someone were to visit Nancy at Domesticraft.com too, ( and I counted the comments up) then maybe I could still send the box sometime in the next week when It is filled and finished?

What do YOU think?

I've been feeling like I need to shake off some old things and put on some new things...
If you are a parent, you know that there are actually two chances for a fresh start in the year.  September brings a new school cycle.  It always feels like a new beginning for the whole family.  And  then there is January...where really the focus is more about the individual - about me.

And I feel like I need to shake off some old perspectives, some wrong thinking, some heavy worries.

I found some inspiration on Pinterest.  Oh, you know you love pinterest!  I love to find illustrated quotes there, but lately, all the ones in my feed are French or Spanish.  Not that they don't look even more interesting and impacting in a different language.  But if I can't read them, that sorta defeats the purpose, doesn't  it. But I was feeling determined and despite the language barrier managed to find a few illustrated quotes that fit some of the thing's I wanted to "put on."

Happy Autumn: Sharing my Fall Foxy With You

I saw this little guy at my local Craft Warehouse  last year.  It's a big craft store a little bit like Hobby Lobby, only not.  ...
